With your Webflow account, you have 2 ways of editing and changing your website. You can either use the Webflow Designer or the Webflow Editor.
The biggest difference between the 2 ways to edit your website is simplicity. The Webflow Designer is super advanced, and you can change and work on anything. The Webflow editor is a much more simplified view where you can change text and images. That’s it.
Now that’s very briefly explained and answers the question, but let’s dive a bit more into the editor and the designer, as they both have pros and cons depending on your situation and workflow.
Webflow Editor
You can only use the Webflow Editor once you’ve published your website. Otherwise, you’ll be asked to publish your Webflow website.
As soon as you’ve published it, then you can click on the three dots on the project you wish to edit and click on the editor.
As soon as you’ve published it, you can click on the three dots on the project you wish to edit and click on the editor.
This will open up your website in the browser just as if you were visiting it in your browser.

You can then see when you start to hover the mouse over the different elements, you can change them.
You can only change text and images and a few settings. But if you, for instance, wish you change the text, then you just hover over the text and click on the pencil icon, which shows.

It works the same way if you wish to change images through the editor. Hover over the image you wish to replace, then click on the image icon in the top right corner.

This is overall how the editor works. You can also easily change the page in the bottom bar and edit on other pages.
On top of this, you can change your meta descriptions, titles and more for your SEO settings on specific pages.
That’s about it. As you can see, it’s super simple but absolutely perfect for copywriters and marketers from your team.
Webflow Designer
Now the Webflow Designer is something completely different. This is where you can build your website from the ground up.
Using the designer doesn’t require you to publish your project, as you need access to the designer in order to design your Webflow website.
That said, the designer has the same functionality as the editor and much more. You can change text and images by simply clicking on them and then either writing or choosing/uploading a new image in the left section.
But it doesn’t stop here. With the designer, you can add sections to your page, images, headlines, paragraphs, and more.
And for each section, you can add animations, set dimensions and colours, change the layout and do everything you need to create a beautiful website.
I like to have the navigator open on the left side when working on my Webflow website, as it helps me get an overview of the page’s structure.

So overall, the Webflow designer is much more advanced and technical. I believe everyone can learn to use the editor whether you have technical experience.
If you have technical experience, it’s a plus, but it’s not mandatory at all. Just start using it, and the more you try, the more you’ll get the hang of it, and in the end, it’ll be the easiest thing for you.
It took me less than a day to get the hang of the overall functionality, and then I still learn new methods and features to this day. You just have to keep on trying.
